There are many ways you can unintentionally lose information on a computer. A glass of water falling unintentionally, a power surge, lightning, floods. And sometimes equipment just fails.

If you regularly make backup copies of your files and keep them in a separate place, you can get some, if not all, of your information back in the event something happens to the originals on your computer.

You can ignore that, don't do any back-up or don't test it, and if a disaster occurs, you might be one of the 25% to 40% of small businesses (depending on the sources) which will close within 2 years after facing a disaster.... Up to you!
